- GMT Games posted the following
announcement on their web page today:
Flagship
Announcement
Unfortunately it
appears that the hobby has moved past
the CCG and although Flagship is not a
CCG, it’s style is too similar to them
so it has suffered the same lack of
interest. Therefore, we are announcing a
permanent price drop on Flagship: Coyote
Stands and Flagship: Prometheus
Unchained to $16 each, a set of one of
each of the four duplicate decks is now
$25, and any single duplicate deck is
$7. In addition, Exiles Crusade and
Horns of the Dragon are being dropped
from P500.
7/12/2002
- The 3rd and 4th Flagship
sets are now on GMT's Project
500, order now for only $16
compared to the list price of $25:

Kirkirin Swarm have entered Heisenberg
space and the only thing that stands in
their way is the firepower of Starbase
Draconis! This stand-alone set expands
the Flagship world with 55 Heisenberg
Dynasty cards and 55 Kirikin Swarm
cards.
The
decks feature the mighty Dynasty
Starbases as they are attacked by the
unstoppable Kirikin Siege Platforms.

characters as well as new characters.
The
Dynasty deck includes "Module"

further expand the Flagship world.
Exile's
Crusade - Flagship #4
Freeman's
Followers wander the galaxy without a
homeworld and few allies. An ancient
alien beacon received by their ships may
be their only hope. But the signal lies
deep within the territories of the
Standing Nations, in a sector occupied
by heavily fortified starbases! This
stand-alone set expands the Flagship
world with 55 Freeman's Followers cards
and 55 Standing Nations cards!
This
set features the battles of the Nations'
starbases, carriers, and fighters as
they wage war against the Followers in
their ships of living light.
This
set also includes new cards for existing
characters as well as new characters.
The
Nations' deck includes
"Module" cards which can be
attached to Bases to further enhance
their already awesome abilities, new
ships, including Fighters, Capital
ships, and a new Flagship.
The
Follower's deck includes new Gastalt
ships which merge the living light of
several ships into one, new ships, and
Construct ships which are produced by
the alien ships for battle.
The
Follower's deck includes Gestalt
vessels, siege platforms which are

one, a new range of capital & escort
ships, and construct ships which are

further expand the Flagship world.

- Flagship has shipped and
all pre-orders should have arrived or

back of the Quick Start sheet in the
game:
Coming
Soon.... Wave #2

boxed Expansions include:

- From GMT's March 23rd newsletter
We also received all
of the boxes for our two new Flagship
games yesterday. We're still awaiting
cards and rules on those two; looks like
they will begin shipping in about two
weeks. Remember, those games were NOT
pre-charged on P500, so we'll be charging
them within that same timeframe, right
before we ship them.
Remember, too, that
you CAN order extra duplicate decks (for
the guys who want the expert-level
deck-builder options in the game) for any
or all four of the races contained in the
first two Flagship games.
The price is $10 per deck, or $35 if you
order a set of all four decks. I don't
think those items are on the order page
yet, but for now, if you want them, just
let the office folks know and they can
arrange to ship them out when the games
ship.
From
GMT's March 1st newsletter:
The
Flagship boxes and card
decks (both games) are at the printers.
Final layout work on the rules is ongoing,
as Andy works with Dan and Chris to put
the finishing touches on there. Then Mark
will do a final layout and we'll have it
ready. We'll have at least real decks and
possibly entire games for GAMA show demos
around the 20th of March, and should be
ready to assemble and ship both games to
pre-orders and stores shortly thereafter.
1/25/2002
- The pre-order price for both sets has
been reduced to $16 each (regular price
once released is $25) on GMT's
Project 500 page.
1/13/2002
- Now available
online are playtest tactical rules for
Flagship (4 page pdf file) and
low-res playtest cards (25 page pdf file)

- Flagship is an easy to learn
tactical starship combat card game for 2
or more players. Typical games last 30 to
45 minutes. Future boxed sets in the
series will introduce new empires, new
technologies, and give players an
ever-growing collection of cards with
which to construct their decks. The two
initial boxed sets that kick off the
series are Set #1: Prometheus Unchained
and Set #2: Coyote Stands.

Each
player commands a fleet of 3 to 12
starships representing one of four
different space empires. The first player
to destroy the enemy flagship wins.
Players use the cards in their deck to add
crew and equipment to their ships, and to
surprise the enemy with last second attack
bonuses or extra defenses against enemy
barrages.
Each
set includes 110 high quality cards,
giving players a deck of 55 cards for each
of two space empires.
Each
set retails for $20--that's only $10 per
player ($16 per set if you pre-order now).
Players
can be taught the game in 5 to 10 minutes
Average
game length: 30 minutes
Allows
2 player head-to-head play
Allows
3 or more players to play as teams or
free-for-all.
This
game is part of GMT's Project
500 series where they wait until they
get over 500 pre-orders before the game is
send off to the printers. If you
want to see this game produced, go to GMT
Games website and place your order
for both Flagship sets
(credit cards are not charged until the
game is printed).
Flagship
is designed by Dan Verssen whose credits
include, the Modern Naval Battles
series of cardgames, Starforce Terra
- Contact cardgame and the Star
Trek Collectable Dice Game.
